Coming Soon: Our 80cm diameter New Reflector!

UCLO provides the premier teaching facilities in the UK for observational astronomy, and we are committed to continuing to give our students the best possible training so they are well placed to become world-class astronomers and astrophysicists.

The new 80cm diameter telescope.

New Telescope

We have recently completed the Tender bidding process for the New Large Telescope at the UCL Observatory. This completes 13 years of fund-raising efforts to purchase the largest telescope on site and the largest university-based telescope (known to us) in England. The winning bid was from world-class telescope makers ASTELCO. This new 80cm reflector Ritchey-Cretien has been commissioned and will be delivered and installed in the Summer of 2018, and start serving students in the 2018-19 academic year.

We are in the process of updating this page... thanks for your patience!
